Here's a quick post.
I've always felt like an idiot when domains and what-nots are being discussed... and it's a shame really since i've been blogging since 2002 I believe.
Anyway, for those who are as challenged as I am, this is how I understood it.
A domain name or just domain is the address... for example, your home address will be your domain name. A great services site example would be godaddy.com.
A host is the space which the domain will occupy... think of it as a lot (rented, leased, owned). A good Pinoy example is ploghost by Yuga.
I've been thinking about getting my own host and domain for a long while now (think years) but i'm perpetually intimidated by the fact that there are still so much about the internet that I don't understand.
Then again, I think am going about this the wrong way. Maybe I should go headlong and get 'my own home' so that i'd be forced to learn... same way how I learned to blog and tinker with html templates to make them my own.

Wii is our world
... or so we hope.
I think I only ever owned one Game & Watch in my day. They were a Nintendo offering that helped me while away afternoons under drying clothes on our balcony, while also simultaneously flirting with the odd neighbor or two.
Well, Nintendo has come a long way with their offerings... and hubs has been at me in seeking permission to invest our funds on a Wii, a gaming console (basically, a game with buttons and joysticks for interactive entertainment) that he justifies has helped many people lose weight through its Wii Sport (yup, you can play golf or tennis at home, and with the family). It's wi-fi ready and can be used to play Sims.
Unfortunately for our superficial wants, our pregnancy was a difficult and expensive one... and despite having disposable funds for the Wii, we decided we'd be happier having our son baptized instead.
Fortunately for us, there is another way of getting a Wii... friends and countrymen, may I just refer you then to Xpango.Com so you can help me get my hubs a Wii?

why the blog?
Actually, this was my husband's idea.
I am a self-confessed I.T. idiot. Maybe that was why I dated, got involved, and went steady with men from the IT industry and ultimately ended up with a computer geek and gadget-freak.
Anyway, am always at the mercy of my husband's explanations and one time, as I was asking him about VOIP, he wondered aloud how fun it would be if he had time to run a blog entitled, "My Wife Wanted to Know about I.T." (pun intended on the I.T.).
Obviously, he doesn't have time to blog. But of course, he makes times to answer my questions... speaking to me usually as if am a five-year old (I don't take offense because any techier and I wouldn't be able to grasp it). In a way, he'd be blogging through me. I just hope though that I give his explanations justice...
Anyway, thus the blog. But I am expanding this blog's scope with the other things I just naturally DON'T GET and are seldom really interested in :) (so yeah, mostly men stuff?).
I remain,
A semi-interested wife
